2020 sure has been a toughie of a year, hasn’t it?
Even though we’ve had many struggles this year, we also wanted to take a moment to reflect on this past year and all the wonderful accomplishments and milestones that we’ve achieved as we look forward to 2021.
We believe that one of the biggest highlights of this year, which was unfortunately born out of the largest challenges our country has faced, was the mobilization of the 3D printing community as everyone pitched in to create personal protective equipment for our frontline workers as they faced the brunt of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was amazing to see all of the effort put forth by individual makers and organizations alike as we all dedicated time and resources to help print and distribute this equipment to hospitals and places that were facing PPE shortages. Our team was inspired by our community and were proud to have been a part of this united effort, printing over 200 face shields and donating them to our local hospitals.
This year was the inaugural year of our Closed Loop Plastics blog and CLiP of the Month newsletter! While we’ve made great strides working in stealth mode and getting our operations up and running smoothly, we’re excited to find new ways to interact with you all a lot more and be part of the conversations within our community about 3D printing and sustainability. Thank you for your continued support as we continue to share our thoughts on the sustainability landscape and offer up more practical print ideas, tips and tricks, and all things plastics! As always, if you have any thoughts, questions, or suggestions, please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org; we love hearing from you!
Recycling Program Design Competition
We launched our first social media design contest! Earlier this year, we announced our plan for setting up a recycling program so that makers and businesses across the country could conveniently recycle their plastics and have them shipped straight to us for processing. We asked for your creative ideas in designing a collection bin to be placed in participating makerspaces and businesses, and we were so thrilled by the entries that we received! Thanks again to our winner for his awesome design, and we can’t wait to see it in action once our Plastic Recycling Program officially launches!
As we continue to strive to make a bigger positive impact on our 3D printing community and our environment, we’ve been so proud to work with Mountains Wave Marketing in order to build deeper connections and develop awesome partnerships with others in the community! We’re looking forward to what 2021 will bring us as we continue to work together on awesome projects and exciting efforts!
New Product Colors!
You asked, and we listened! Our Party Pink U-HIPS filament will always be our signature color, but we black was such a highly requested color that we just had to make it happen! This was a very first venture into adding new colors to our U-HIPS filament line and we were so excited by the results and what this means for future product options we’ll be able to offer in the future!
We’ve made huge headways in our production line this year by increasing our production throughput by almost 400%! So we’re now diverting more plastics from the landfills, processing more post-consumer plastic waste, than ever before. And this is only the beginning! As we move into 2021, we’re planning on getting our production even more streamlined so that we can process more plastic waste and introducing more plastic types as well!
We want to thank all of our early supporters who have been with us every step of the way as we've grown and improved, and want to welcome anyone new who's joined us this year! We hope to make you all proud and continue providing you with even better sustainable products!
